Mary Poppins follows the troubled Banks family after the delightful nanny arrives on their doorstep. Murphys’ Irish Days

Open rain or shine! Thousands of people from Northern California and beyond gather in the historic gold rush town of Murphys to honor its Celtic heritage and to celebrate as only the Irish can. Its picturesque Main Street is filled with booths offering hand crafted items, original art, photographs, tasty food, wine, and other beverages. The day begins with a pancake breakfast.  At 11 a.m. the swirl of bagpipes heralds a parade of marching bands, classic cars, horses, community organizations, novelty entries. Continuous entertainment will feature singers, dancers, musicians, and jugglers throughout the day.  Pony rides for the young ones and Renaissance actors encamped in the park.  Raffle for an exciting trip for two to Ireland.

Columbia’s Birthday Celebration

Come out to Columbia State Historic Park for a Spanish tradition that re-enacts the biblical story of Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter with a distinctive 1850s flavor. Come Join us! This all equestrian parade up Columbia State Park’s Main Street is open to all ages of equine riders/drivers. September 27th 2014, Columbia State Historic Park presents the 32nd Annual Fiddle and a Bango* Contest, which is an all-day contest where musicians compete for cash prizes in six categories: fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, vocal and miscellaneous, while spectators relax in lawn chairs. Registration for contestants is 9 to 10:30 am when competition begins and continues until about 4:30 pm, except for a lunch break featuring a Chili Cook-Off.

 *Bango was a misprint on the contest T-shirts back in 1983, and the name stuck!

September 27th to September 28th 2014, Tuolumne hosts the Memorial Hall Antique Fair. The huge open space and wood floors of Tuolumne Memorial Hall complement the antiques while the local park provides ample shaded parking. Saturday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm are free admission. Saturday at 8:00am is $5. This bi-annual antique fair has been very popular. 25 vendors are carefully chosen for antique, vintage and shabby chic.

Opening Weekend for Railtown’s regular 2014 Steam Train Operating Season! Grand Opening festivities both days.
