The ocean water off each Santa Barbara beach is much warmer than Central & Northern California Beaches. However the Santa Barbara Beach water temperature is still not Florida warm. The Santa Barbara beaches are however more beautiful, with coastal mountains making a picture perfect background.
The Santa Barbara Zoo is located on 30 acres (120,000 m2) near the ocean in Santa Barbara, California. It was formerly known as the Child’s Estate Zoo. The zoo has been ranked numerous times as one of the nation’s best small zoos. It has 600 animals in numerous exhibits, including capybara and Californian Condors, and is famous for having had a giraffe with a crooked neck.
Santa Barbara is in an excellent location for whale watching. It offers us a fabulous opportunity to witness the migration of the gray whales, as well as spot other species of the large marine mammals. Over 27 different types of whales and dolphins inhabit the Santa Barbara Channel at various times of the year, making these waters one of the best whale watching areas in the world.
One of the sweetest treasures of the Golden State, the California Strawberry Festival began in 1984 in salute to the rich agricultural industry that etches Oxnard’s coastal landscape with the tasty fruit that’s hard to resist. Strawberries are the prized harvest in Ventura County where 11,538 acres produce more than 27 percent of the state’s supply with peak season production of 10 million pint baskets shipped worldwide daily.
Malibu’s beaches are the main attraction, with Zuma Beach drawing over 800,000 visitors over Labor Day Weekend in 2007. Surfrider Beach, adjacent to the Adamson’s House and Malibu Lagoon, with its long waves draws a steady beach and surfer crowd.
